Police
Policing in the county council area is provided by Gloucestershire Constabulary. Suzette Davenport was appointed Chief Constable in 2013. South Gloucestershire is covered by Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
LGBT history
In 1982 Gay News reported that there was just one CHE group in the county- The Gloucester/Cheltenham Group [1].The Gloucestershire Gay and Lesbian Community Group is a social group originating in 1974 [2]. Gay Girls of Gloucestershire was a group for lesbians of all ages that existed in the mid 2010s.
In 2025 a school worker won her appeal against dismissal from a primary school in Fairford, Gloucestershire after she objected to the lessons being used in the school on LGBT Relationships [3] [4] The school failed in their bid to overturn the ruling [5].
