The University of Surrey was founded in 1891 as the Battersea Polytechnic Institute. In 1956 it became Battersea College of Advanced Technology. it became the University of Surrey in 1966, and by 1970 had completed its move from Battersea in the London Borough of Wandsworth to its new campus on Stag Hill, Guildford, near Guildford Cathedral.LGBT societies
LGBT Society Surrey University was a member of the LGBT Consortium in 2011.[1]
